For people who can’t wait until September 14th, there’s an opportunity to watch the Amplified Gesture documentary a few days earlier. On saturday September 5th, 2009 the documentary about David Sylvian’s new album “Manofon” is shown at the Punkt Festival in Kristiansand, Norway.
Both UK magazines Mojo and The Wire feature in their September 2009 issues interviews with David. Besides talking about the past, David is very open about the Manafon project and taking steps from there.Very good, new photographs by Donald Milne is giving the Wire article an extra reason for the collector to get this issue.
On September 14th 2009, the movie Amplified Gesture will be shown at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA). There’ll be a screening of the DVD, a Q&A with the director and a playback of a couple of tracks from Manafon. David will not be there! The new 9 track album from David Sylvian, which is scheduled to be released September 14th, is called Manafon. See below for tracklist and press information and artwork. Samadhi Sound wrote on davidsylvian.com: Manafon's release date is set for Sept 14th. Manafon will be available in two editions. A regular CD/digipak edition and a twin volume deluxe edition with CD and DVD featuring the film 'Amplified Gesture'. Details and new David Sylvian website to follow soon.
Jacqueline is the title of the (unreleased) track that has been released on the CD “FANTASTIC AND SPECTACULAR”, which is enclosed with the July/August issue of the US magazine The Believer 2009 Music Issue. The CD is compiled by Daniel Handler, who is the author of three novels and many, many books for children.
Charles Lindsay, who provided the artwork for the Camphor album, presents on his personal Vimeo page HD videos from the Carbon project. Two of these videos are the same as released on the SamadhiSound site back in 2005 as Science Fiction 1/2 with music by David Sylvian and Steve Jansen.
It is absolutely not certain but if there is going to be a single than that’s probably the title of the track taken from the long awaited album Manafon.
