The standard, brilliant video by the dutch photographer Anton Corbijn. The whole video is one homage to the photographer Angus McBean and at the time of the shooting of the surrealistic black and white video Anton Corbijn, they invited Angus to appear in the video. The video of Red Guitar is based on a picture from McBean: Flora Robson Surrealized, 1938.

The man with the beard:

This would be Angus McBean (1904 – 1990). David got facinated with McBean’s portraits of actress Flora Robson. David contacted McBean and at the time of the shooting of the surrealistic black and white video by the dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, they invited Angus to appear in the video. The video of Red Guitar is based on a picture from McBean: Flora Robson Surrealized, 1938. McBean was already well known for his photographies of Laurence Olivier, Vivian Leigh and Audrey Hepburn.
Because of his appearance in the video (in his own surrealistic environment), McBean was seen by youngsters in Top Of The Pops and a complete new audience discovered his work through David’s video.
