Japanese PerspectivesPreparations For A Journey VHD

OFFER ENDS FEBRUARY 28 (Monday)

A very loyal visitor of davidsylvian.net is offering two absolute rarities for sale! A complete Japanese Perspectives package and the rarely seen VHD of Preparations For A Journey. Before he's putting it on eBay, he gives the visitors of davidsylvian.net a first opportunity to make a bid.

Japanese Perspectives

Super rare Japanese release of the Perspectives book (number 398), covering his Polaroids artwork from 1982 to 1984. This book (only 500 printed!), as well as the regular UK release, contain colour prints of his polaroid collages, featuring many famous persons as subject of those collages like Steve Jansen, Holger Czukay, Yuka Fujii and Angus McBean. Compared to the UK edition, there are some additional polaroid compilations printed and a series of letters written by Sylvian to Sakamoto concerning the publication of the book, among other things (see one of the pictures with a sketch by Sylvian of a very Cocteauesque-looking Orpheus).
The physical structure of the book is like an old Buddhist prayer book, i.e. that it doesn't have a spine, it's like one great, long scroll has been folded up between two hard covers.

The seller wants a minimum bid of US$ 1025.

Japanese Preparations For  A Journey VHD

The VHD edition of Preparations For  A Journey (Victor VVM-19) is a very odd and rarely seen item for any collector. It's not even on this site (yet).
The inlay sheet is sized between B4 and A3. It is double-sided with a  black and white version of the cover without the fish and company icons  on one side, and on the reverse what we have seen in all other formats  of PFAJ: notes by Naoki Tachikawa, stills from the video, and a  transcript of what David says accompanied by a Japanese translation.
The VHD  itself is a rectangular-shaped, cream-coloured, opaque plastic cartridge  , roughly 33cm long, 26cm wide, and 1cm thick.

The seller wants a minimum bid of US$ 500.
