When I first heard Awakenings (almost 20 yrs ago) I was astounded that a single musical piece could be so diverse. I listen to it still and find it just as refreshing as when I first heard it!!!

I have had this on cassette since its release in the UK. Its one of those tapes that I keep in the car for when everything is getting a little intense.
It can be alittle off putting at times as it explains in the inside cover that the recording quality is not that good - which can detract from some of the listening quality.
The music is soft, ambient and flowing but is carried on with a tremendously vibrant and uplifting percussive element.
The use of brass, wind and percussive intruments combined with the wonderful interjection of African and Asian voice serves to create a wonderful conglomeration of sound.
A worthy addition to any real fans collection - despite the lack of vocal from the lead man.
